ARCHITECTURAL ASSOCIATIONS

American Architectural Manufacturers Association
AAMA is comprised of a variety of companies, including window, door, and skylight manufacturers, component and supply manufacturers, and service and consulting companies.

American Institute of Architects
AIA is the professional association for licensed architects in the U.S.

Architects, Designers, and Planners EOS Institute
Association providing building materials information to architects, contractors, home owners and others.

DESIGN ASSOCIATIONS

American Institute of Building Design
AIBD has provided building designers with educational resources, and has developed nationwide design standards and a code of ethics for the building design profession since 1950.

INDUSTRY TRADE ASSOCIATIONS

Aluminum Association, Inc.
A trade association for U.S. producers of primary aluminum, recyclers, and semi-fabricated aluminum products. This site also offers publications, aluminum statistics, and audiovisuals.

American Galvanizers Association (AGA)
The (AGA) is a not-for-profit trade association whose members represent the after-fabrication hot-dip galvanizing industry throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

American Institute of Building Design (AIBD)
Since 1950, AIBD has provided building designers with educational resources, and has developed nationwide design standards and a code of ethics for the building design profession. Today, AIBD is a nationally recognized association with professional and associate members in 47 states and throughout Canada, as well as Europe, Asia and Australia.

American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC)
The American Institute of Steel Construction is a non-profit association representing and serving the structural steel industry in the U.S. Its purpose is to expand the use of fabricated structural steel through research and development, education, technical assistance, standardization and quality control. Articles from Modern Steel Construction Magazine are now on-line from 1966 to the present.

American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI)
The AISI promotes steel as the material of choice and works to enhance the competitiveness of the North American steel industry and its member companies. Member companies include integrated, electric furnace, and reconstituted mills. Associate members include suppliers to, or customers of, the industry. Affiliate member organizations include downstream steel producers of products such as cold rolled strip, pipe and tube, and coated sheet.

Association of Iron and Steel Engineers (AIST)
Technical organization in the steel industry dedicated to the advancement of technical and engineering phases of the production and processing of iron and steel. This site has a great links section for producers and users of steel.

Canadian Sheet Steel Building Institute (CSSBI)
The CSSBI is the national association of companies involved in the structural sheet steel industry. Members include producers, fabricators, and associate members. The CSSBI works in several different disciplines of the sheet steel industry, including lightweight steel cladding, steel building products, steel building systems, residential steel roofing, and lightweight steel framing members.

Construction Specifications Institute (CSI)
The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) is a national professional association that provides technical information and products, continuing education, professional conferences, and product shows to enhance communication among all the nonresidential building design and construction industry’s disciplines and meet the industry’s need for a common system of organizing and presenting construction documents. CSI’s 18,000 members include architects, engineers, specifiers, contractors, building owners, facility managers, and product manufacturers.

Energy Efficient Building Association (EEBA)
The EEBA promotes the awareness, education and development of energy efficient, environmentally responsible buildings and communities. Members include architects, builders, developers, manufacturers, engineers, utilities, code officials, researchers, educations, and environmentalists.

International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI)
The IISI was founded in 1967 and is a non-profit research organization providing a world forum on various aspects of the international steel industry. Members include nearly all of the world’s major steel producers. It is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

Light Gauge Steel Engineers Association (LGSEA)
The LGSEA was formed in 1994 to create a network of architects and engineers knowledgeable in steel framing design and to resolve issues involving the use of steel framing.

Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI)
MHI is the national trade organization for companies involved in all segments of the manufactured housing industry. Site contains helpful information sections, industry facts, a search feature, online magazines, and more.

Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA)
An association of metal building and roofing manufacturers working together to promote the use of steel systems in the low-rise, non-residential building and roofing construction market.

Metal Construction Association (MCA)
MCA’s mission is to expanding the use of metal in construction applications through marketing, technology, and education.

Metal Roofing Alliance
Dedicated to developing awareness of the advantages of using metal roofs in commercial and residential applications. The site provides excellent links to metal shingle/slate, metal tile, metal shake, and metal vertical panel manufacturers.

National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)
Members are single and multi-family home builders, commercial builders, and other companies associated with the home building industry. The site offers a wealth of information including news, consumer issues, economic and housing data, state and local building associations, a resource guide, and much more.

National Frame Builders Association (NFBA)
This site is for those companies building structurally efficient homes and buildings using posts, trusses, purlins, girts, bracing, and sheathing as secondary construction members and for those needing information on this type of construction. News and links are offered.

National Lumber & Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA)
The NLBMDA promotes the success of America’s lumber and building material dealers.

National Coil Coating Association
This site is dedicated to promoting the growth of coil coated products. NCCA represents both the companies that coat the metal (“coil coaters”), and various suppliers including the leading steel, aluminum, coatings manufacturers, as well as chemical, pretreatment and equipment suppliers that provide the necessary services to produce and further process pre-painted coil. The site contains a newsroom and a resource library.

National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA)
The NRCA was established in 1886 and is one of the construction industry’s oldest trade associations and the voice of professional roofing contractors worldwide. It is an association of roofing, roof deck, and waterproofing contractors; industry-related associate members, including manufacturers, distributors, architects, consultants, and engineers, as well as city, state, and government agencies and international members. NRCA has more than 4,600 members from all 50 states and 54 countries.

National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE)
The National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) is the only engineering society that represents individual engineering professionals and licensed engineers (PEs) across all disciplines.

Society of American Military Engineers (SAME)
SAME is a nonprofit professional engineer association, headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia. Founded in 1920 to engage military and federal government engineers with those in private life for the purpose of improving the engineering potential of the United States, the society today has some 25,000 members from the industry, military, government, and academia.

Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA)
Members are primarily steel producers such as mini-mills. It is the primary trade association for scrap-based EAF steel makers.

Steel Plate Fabricators Association
The SPFA’s membership is composed of manufacturers of ferrous and non-ferrous custom designed and fabricated steel and alloyed plat for steel mills, railroads, utilities, and petroleum, chemical, water, and related industries.

Steel Recycling Institute (SRI)
The Steel Recycling Institute promotes and sustains the recycling of all steel products.

Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI)
Members include domestic and international wholesalers of industrial steel and aluminum products who take products from metal producers and provide new products in various sizes and grades.

Steel Stud Manufacturers Association (SSMA)
The SSMA represents member firms who are engaged in the manufacture, marketing, and sale of cold-formed steel framing members to users of member products such as contractors, distributors, design professionals, code officials, and standards organizations.

American Electroplaters & Surface Finishers Society
The AESF is an international society that advances the science of surface finishing to benefit industry and society.

Fabricators and Manufacturers Association International
This association keeps members current concerning metal forming and fabricating trends and technologies.

Metal Treating Institute
Metal Treating Institute is the only international trade association representing the corporate heat treating industry. Members include commercial heat treaters, captive heat treaters, and suppliers.

Precision Metalforming Association
PMA members include metal stampers, fabricators, spinners, slide formers, and roll formers. Home to the Custom Roll Forming Institute.

Specialty Steel Industry of North America
SSINA is a trade association representing virtually all the producers of specialty steel in North America including bar, rod, wire, angles, plate, sheet, and strip in stainless steel and other specialty steels.

PETROLEUM, OIL, AND GAS ASSOCIATIONS

American Gas Association (AGA)
The American Gas Association is an organization of ~ 300 natural gas distribution, transmission, gathering and marketing companies in North America. AGA members account for more than 90% of the natural gas delivered in the United States. AGA acts as a clearinghouse for gas energy information, as a catalyst in technical and energy policy matters, and as a powerful voice for its members.

American Petroleum Institute (API)
The American Petroleum Institute is the U. S. petroleum industry’s primary trade association. Its membership consists of a broad cross section of petroleum and allied industries in exploration, production, transportation, refining and marketing. API provides public policy development, advocacy, research and technical services to enhance the ability of the petroleum industry to fulfill its mission of meeting the nation’s energy needs. It strives to enhance the environmental, health, and safety performance of the petroleum industry; conducting research to advance petroleum technology; advocating government decision-making; and promoting public understanding of the industry’s value to society.

GPA Midstream Association
The GPA Midstream Association has been engaged in shaping the midstream sector of the U.S. energy industry since 1921. They are involved in setting and adopting standards for natural gas liquids, developing simple and reproducible test methods to define the industry’s raw materials and products, managing a cooperative research program that is used worldwide, providing a voice for the industry on Capitol Hill, and being the go-to resource for a multitude of technical reports and publications, and so much more.

American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM)
The American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) promotes the general welfare of its members by gathering and disseminating historical and scientific information and statistics pertaining to the petroleum refining and petrochemical manufacturing industries. The association also promotes environmental improvement and provide an effective channel of communication between its members and other associations, government, and the public.

US Oil & Gas Association (USOGA)
The US Oil & Gas Association (originally the Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association) was founded in October 1917 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, following the United States’ entry into World War I. A principal purpose of the Association’s foundation was to provide essential supplies of petroleum and petroleum product to the allied forces, helping the Allies, “…to float to victory upon a wave of oil.” The US Oil & Gas Association’s contribution to that success helped establish it as an Association in which individuals working cooperatively could resolve mutual problems and achieve great results.
